1-1 Lessons In Person
Working one-on-one allows me to address your specific needs more effectively. Like group classes, these functional integration lessons aim to rewire your brain, musculoskeletal system, and nervous system, reducing pain and improving how you hold yourself, breathe, and move. These sessions help undo unhelpful movement habits that restrict natural flow, much like relearning how to move as we did as babies.
We begin by discussing what you’d like to do more easily and comfortably, identifying how the issue impacts specific functions—e.g., shoulder pain affecting reaching or hip pain impairing walking. Sessions typically start with "reference movements," which are revisited afterward to observe changes. Lessons occur on a padded table, either sitting or lying down, with you fully clothed—so wear comfortable, flexible clothing.
Unlike group classes, individual lessons involve hands-on guidance instead of verbal instructions. Through touch, I gently explore your movement patterns, helping you break unhelpful habits and discover freer, more efficient ways to move. Learning happens at a somatic level, leading to improved posture, freer breathing, and greater ease of movement.
Sessions are slow, gentle, and deeply relaxing, lasting about an hour. Weekly lessons are recommended for lasting change, with the number of sessions depending on your goals and how ingrained the patterns are. For example, I achieved symptom relief from chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia in six months with regular lessons and group classes.
